The City of Grande Prairie’s Operational Services Committee has passed a proposal to have an increased snow removal in cul-de-sac’s towards budget deliberations.
As of right now there is no service where they focus on removing the piles of snow that piles up in cul-de-sac’s. This proposal would make it so there is a dedicated team to remove these piles.
Chief Operating Officer for Grande Prairie, Brian Glavin says this would help with removal all around.
“Adding the ability to do an additional round of residential snow removal, during periods of freeze and thaw, that we have seen more of over the past few years.”
The total yearly budget for the project would see another $333,000 added to the budget, which would include three hauling trucks and 10-hour work days.
Budget deliberations are set to take place later this month.
