Tracy Perrson is one of five finalist’s for the Canadian Cancer Society’s rural screening challenge.
The challenge features nominees who have made a difference or improvements in screening and treatment innovations for early detection’s of breast cancer.
Perrson has spent nearly 25 years in Grande Prairie, during that time she was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer, but Tracy wanted to make the most out of it. She fortunately beat the breast cancer, and wanted to make it a goal to help out other women in rural Alberta.
Perrson than launched an app in October of 2024, called MyBreastDay. The app helps with early detection in breast cancer, and current breast health.
Perrson says that it is key to know about early detection when it comes to any kind of cancer.
“Early detection shouldn’t be a privilege.”
Persson says she is very proud to represent her region in this event.
“I am really honoured to represent rural and indigenous communities.”
The winner will take home $100,000 and is slated to be announced in July 2026.
