Jackie Clayton hopeful for another term as Mayor

Jackie Clayton will be looking to be re-elected as Mayor in the upcoming election.

Clayton says just like many other people who moved to Grande Prairie, they only had a five year plan to stay, but her love with the region has only strengthened over the last thirty years, and it continues to grow as she looks to earn her fourth term overall on council.

“Grande Prairie is my home, and like many people I planned to move here for 5 years, and never left.”

Clayton says she never had any real dream to run for Mayor from the start, but her terms on council helped pushed that further into reality.

“When I was first elected, we were spending way too much money and that is why I wanted to be the Mayor of Grande Prairie.”

Clayton says that because of her track record, she believes she has what it takes to continue to lead the city in the years to come.

“I bring a lot of experience to the conversation. I think between advocacy and collaboration I have proven that I am very supportive of growth and a stronger Grande Prairie, of a Grande Prairie that is really just beginning in regards to what is possible.”

The municipal election is slated for October 20th.
