Council hopeful Waqar Khan hopes to earn the vote

Waqar Khan will be running for city council for the first time, in the upcoming municipal election.

Khan has been in Grande Prairie for over 20 years, in that time he has built a family, and worked for different non-profits, while being a small business owner.

Khan says that over the recent years he has noticed the crime is getting out of hand, and that if he is elected he wants to make the change.

“I want Grande Prairie to be a safer place for everyone. I have seen as of late, that crime is going up. I want to make sure the city is safe and full of opportunity for my kids and other families in Grande Prairie.”

Khan says that currently there is not enough transparency in council.

“I want to bring transparency and accountability [to council]”

Khan understands how important it is to have a good relationship with the county, and was impressed with last terms council effort to keep that relationship strong.

“I want to continue to have a good collaboration with the county, Grande Prairie is such a unique place where the county is right at the border, we need to have a good relationship and a good understanding.”

The municipal election is slated for October 20th.
