The Alberta School Boards Association has announced that Corporal Gavin Ool has received the 2025 Friends of Education Award.
The award recognizes individual’s or organizations in the community who have a passion to enhance education and builds relationships with students and families in the community.
Ool is the lead for the Resource Officer Program, in the Grande Prairie Public School Division.
Schoolboard trustee Ray Buziak says the impact Ool has left on students is long-lasting.
“He is dedicated to supporting youth and is intentional about building meaningful relationships with students, particularly in our high schools. He is known by name
in our schools because of his daily efforts to connect with young people. He has also developed strong partnerships with administrators, staff, and parents, making him a trusted and valued resource in education.”
Buziak also says that Ool has took the extra step to make an impact.
“Beyond day-to-day interactions, he has played a key role in shaping a positive narrative about the role of law enforcement in the community.”
