Stitch club is hoping to knot worry about donations

Stitch club of Grande Prairie is spinning for more donations of yarn.

The club started back in 2001, and are in current need of donations to keep their members happy. The group meets every September and each person takes what they need.

Between 2024 and 2025 the club has created over 7000 different items, and use plenty of yarn according to Stitch Club President Anne Sawchuk, and the costs start to round up.

“Well if we have no yarn we cant make anything, because of the price of all of yarn right now the minimum price you can probably buy one for is $5. We go through 11,500 balls of yarn a year.”

Sawchuk also says the group of 67 people just want to give back.

“A whole bunch of ladies love to get together, want to give back to the community.”

There is plenty of ways to donate, you can drop off yarn, cash or gift cards at the 55 North community centre.
