Jena Flach has announced her campaign for city council in the upcoming municipal election.
Flach was born and raised in Grande Prairie, and one of the major reasons that pushed her to run for council, was centred around the decision to launch the Grande Prairie Police Service, something she feels wasn’t talked about enough prior to it’s council approval.
Flach says one of her big goals will be getting more people to vote throughout her campaign.
“My biggest goal is getting the younger demographic more involved in the municipal government process. I would like to see more people get up and get involved in it and get out at vote.”
Flach expressed that she wants to change the way city council is viewed.
“The biggest thing I want to achieve is just engaging the community in a different way that capture their attention, gets them more excited and interested in local politics.”
Flach says that her young view would possibly improve city council if she was elected.
“I have a young perspective on the city, I love to think of new and better way’s of doing thing. Being such a young city, we need that perspective in council.”
The municipal election is slated for October 20th.
