Get to steppin’ for a good cause this Saturday

The Grand Parade walk and fundraiser for the Grande Prairie & Area Council on aging will be taking place on Saturday September 20th.

The walk will be taking place at the Legion Field Track from 11am-2pm, with registration for the event starting at 10:30.

The money raised in the event will go to multiple of the programs that the council has to offer to seniors in the community.

According to the Executive director of the council Tyla Savard, says the number of baby-boomers in the community are expected to at least double over the next few years.

“The number of seniors we have in our community is growing, but over the next 3-4 years we’re going to see that number double if not triple.”

The charity is hoping to make this event an annual thing, as this year is their very first year having the walk.

Savard, is encouraging the community to come on out on Saturday and bring the energy.
