Storm Brewin’: GP Storm set for Friday home opener

The Grande Prairie Storm are back in action at the Bonnetts Energy Centre on Friday September 19th against the Whitecourt Wolverines.

Not only will this be the Storm’s home opener, but it will be their first game of the season.

The team went to the Centennial Cup last season after they lost in the AJHL finals.

Storm Executive Director Nicole Menzies says the locker room has a lot of confidence going into Friday night.

“I think the guy’s have a pretty high expectation for themselves, I think everybody is really excited to get going Friday.”

During the AJHL finals last year, the Storm nearly sold-out each home game they played in. Menzies talked about how she is excited to see the community back in the rink.

“We want to thank everyone for the incredible support last season, and we’re looking forward to see everybody back in the building this Friday.”

The Storm finished last season 2nd in the North division, winning 30 out of 54 regular season games.

The Storm should feel comfortable opening their season against Whitecourt, as they swept them in the playoffs last year 4-0.

This will be the only home game the Storm will play in September.
