GPES charging up knowledge on bylaws for e-bikes, scooter devices

Those who enjoy scooting around the city are reminded to keep the city’s bylaws in mind.

Grande Prairie Enforcement Services is reminding the community to keep public spaces safe for all, not just those who use electric scooters, e-bikes, and other personal mobility devices.

According to GPES under the city’s Parkland Bylaw, motorized or electric devices allowed on parklands, pathways, and trails include electronic bikes, non-vepsa style scooters, segways, electric unicycles, hoverboards and mobility aids such as wheelchairs. In addition to these motorized or electronic modes of transportation, manual bikes, skateboards, inline skates, and rollerblades are allowed.

Vespa-style scooters, GenZe scooters, Juiced Scramblers, CSC City Slickers, golf carts, golfboards and gas- or diesel-powered vehicles are not allowed to be used in these areas unless a permit was previously approved.

The reminder from GPES also urges users to travel at a reasonable speed, keep trail etiquette in mind and to only have one person on a device at a time.
