Local museum set to make their mark on history at anniversary celebration

The Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with an internationally recognized paleontologist.

On September 13th, the Wembley-based museum will be celebrating a decade with a full slate of events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., that will be capped off with a special evening event with British Paleontologist Dr. Dean Lomax from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

According to a statement from museum officials, “This milestone event will be a full-day celebration of all things dinosaurs, highlighting the rich palaeontological heritage of northern Alberta. Dr. Lomax’s presence in the area adds to the growing recognition of the region’s vital contribution to dinosaur research.”

The daytime activities will include guided bonebed tours, behind-the-scenes fossil lab tours and screenings of Walking with Dinosaurs Episode 5, which features the Pipestone Creek Bonebed.

During the evening event, there will be a question and answer period with Dr. Lomax, who is an award-winning author and TV presenter who has travelled across the world excavating and researching dinosaurs along with other ancient animals. He has even discovered and named new species. Following the Q&A period, Dr. Lomax will be signing his book ‘The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs.’

More information, including tickets to the event, can be found here.
