Six people were reported to have lost their lives to accidental fatal drug poisonings in Grande Prairie in February and March 2025
According to the latest statistics from the Alberta Substance Use Surveillance System, which lags several months behind real time, three deaths were reported in February and another three in March. The total is down slightly from the seven deaths reported over the same time period in 2024.
All six death are reported to have been connected to non-pharmaceutical opioids. Between January and March 2025, all 9 death reported accidental poisonings were connected to non-pharmaceutical opioids.
