22-year-old charged with alleged hit and run

One person is facing charges in connection to a pedestrian hit and run over the weekend. 

According to Grande Prairie RCMP around 12:45 p.m. June 27th, officers responded to a pedestrian collision. When officers arrived on scene EMS were attending to the victim, who was suffering life-threatening injuries. 

Police say the surveillance footage the pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when they were struck by the vehicle. After further investigation, police identified the suspect who was arrested shortly after. A 22-year-old from Grande Prairie is facing several charges including aggravated assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of an accident after knowingly causing bodily harm. The 22-year-old has been remanded into custody and will appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie at the end of June. 

According to police, the victim’s condition has since stabilized.
