Last year there were five fatal crashes in Alberta over the holiday season, a statistic the RCMP doesn’t want repeated. Between December 23, 2014 and January 3, 2015, police handed out 101 roadside suspensions for drug and alcohol use, and 157 impaired driving charges.
Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to your destination, put down your cell phone, and don’t drink and drive.
If you’re on the road and think you see a drunk driver, pull over and call 9-1-1. Officers will be out in full force in local detachments and highways hoping to keep Albertans safe.
