Grande Prairie anticipating a Goodvin to great Canada Day celebration

Two weeks out from Canada Day, the city is releasing the musical lineup in Muskoseepi Park along with other festive events planned.

County artist Aaron Goodvin is this year’s musical headliner at the amphitheatre. Mayor Jackie Clayton says she is sure the musician who is originally from Spirit River will put on an unforgettable performance.

“Hosting a talent of this calibre, who also has deep local roots, makes this year’s Canada Day a powerful celebration of both national pride and community connection,” Clayton says.

Along with Goodvin, TJ Ruckus, Hey Driver and Brad Slims all are scheduled to perform throughout with afternoon and into the evening, with performances beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Along with the musical performances, the day will also include the Canada Day parade, free drop-in swimming at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and beer gardens from 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. As well there will be carnival rides and games, a kid’s zone and food trucks.

Transit will be free that day, with regular service from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and extended late-night on-demand and accessible services between any stops in Grande Prairie from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
