More charges against Direct Energy Marketing

Direct Energy is in more hot water. After charges were laid against them this fall, the company is now facing two more counts under consumer protection legislation.

Both revolve around not giving a refund within 15 days after a contract to supply a furnace and air conditioner to a home was cancelled by the homeowner. The case is going to court in January, and if found guilty, the penalty could be up to a $300,000 fine and a maximum of two years in jail.

Direct Energy Marketing services Grande Prairie and other communities in the Peace, and anyone who has concerns is encouraged to contact Service Alberta.
