The biggest contract for the $8.3 billion dollar Site C dam project has been signed. BC Hydro has reached an agreement with Peace River Hydro Partners for its main civil works, valued around $1.75 billion.
The group is made up on ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada, Petrowest Corporation, and Samsung C&T Canada. The contract include building an earthfill dam, two diversion tunnels and a concrete foundation for the generating station and spillways.
Hydro says the work should create roughly 8,000 person-years of work over eight years, employing 1,500 people in northeast B.C. at its peak.
