Double homicide victims found within kilometres of each other

RCMP has confirmed that the bodies of missing women Amber Dawn Diebert and Jody Michelle Topilko were found within a few kilometres of each other in a rural area west of Clairmont. Diebert was found Friday afternoon, and at that point police were stilling looking for Topilko, but Corporal Hal Turnbull can’t say when she was found.

28 year old Mark Phillips has been charged with two counts of second degree murder and will appear in Grande Prairie court on Monday. At the time of his arrest, Phillips was out on a $50,000 dollar surety stemming from a major cocaine and fentanyl bust by ALERT at his home in October 2014.

He faced additional charges when it was alleged this past August that his house was purchased with the proceeds of crime. A trial was scheduled for this May, but could be moved again.
