Star Wars tickets still available in Grande Prairie

The local Cineplex is prepared for the influx of Star Wars fans rushing to see The Force Awakens in its first weekend. General Manager Jared Middleton says they’re upping their staff levels to manage.

“We have a ton of staff working every day; we only have eight concession tills, but we have scheduled 13 people in concession to try to help through the rush, as well as our box office is going to be maxed out and we’re going to have people all over the floor, helping people get seats, in and out of the theatre making sure no one’s got their cell phones up or trying to record anything.”

Contrary to rumours, there are still tickets available for this weekend, although Middleton recommends getting to the theatre early for good seats and buying and printing your tickets at home. Fans can wear their costumes, but are asked to leave any masks at home.

Cineplex had originally planned to have two screens showing the flick, but got permission to expand that to four. The new Star Wars smashed records when it’s trailer was released in October, with $6.5 million in advance sales.
