Grande Prairie likely looking at a White Christmas

If you’re dreaming of a White Christmas in Grande Prairie, you’re likely going to be happy. It’s too soon for Environment Canada’s December 25th forecast, but based on the last 20 years there’s an 80 per cent chance we’ll have more than two centimetres of the white stuff on the ground on Christmas morning.

A few days of snow over the past week have left us with four centimetres on the ground. Grande Prairie has seen significantly less snowfall this winter, as at this point last year, there was a healthy 25 centimetres.

The chances of us having a perfect Christmas are much lower, with only a 26 per cent likelihood of snow the day of. We’ll get an early forecast on December 19th.
