UPDATE: Police ID woman found dead

RCMP has identified the woman whose body was found west of Clairmont Friday afternoon as 24 year old Amber Dawn Diebert. Diebert was last seen on December 8th and was reported missing on December 10th, the day before her body was found. She’s believed to be the victim of foul play.

Diebert knew another missing woman, 30 year old Jody Topilko, who was reported missing on December 8th but was last seen on November 29th. Police are hoping to find her to maybe help understand what happened to Diebert. However, other than knowing each other, police haven’t found any other link between them.

Foul play is suspected in the death of a woman found in a remote, rural area west of Clairmont Friday afternoon. Grande Prairie RCMP says they have tentatively identified her, but want it to be confirmed by an autopsy.

If they are correct, police say the deceased was associated with 30 year old Jody Michelle Topilko, who was reported missing from Grande Prairie after she was last seen shopping with a family member on November 29th. Because of their connection, officers are even more anxious to get in touch with her to make sure she is safe.

Topilko is described as Caucasian, 5’3”, 115 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. At the time of her disappearance, police said it was possible she could be in the Edmonton area. They say now that she may be connected to a 2015 Black Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck with an Alberta licence plate L02 511.

RCMP Strategic Communications says they don’t know if the cases are connected at this time, but they aren’t ruling the possibility out. Anyone with information on either the body found yesterday or the missing woman is asked to contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
