The Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau has announced the recipients of this year’s Volunteer of the Year awards. This year’s individual winner is Cliff Turner, who is now the past president of the Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association. Most recently, Turner played an instrumental role in the construction and completion of the Odyssey House’s second stage supportive housing complex, Serenity House. Turner was nominated by Odyssey House.
The 2015 corporate volunteer of the year is ATB Financial. The financial institution was nominated by STARS Air Ambulance for the numerous volunteer hours that have been contributed by staff at a variety of charitable events and fundraisers in the community.
The Volunteer Services Bureau also introduced their “Outstanding member of the Community” award this year. Maj Photography, Tiny Hands of Hope, Meals on Wheels, Christy Ellen, and Merv Crouse with Coats for Kids all received the award, which is recognition of the contributions they have all made in helping to build the community.
