Freson Bros closing in Grande Prairie after more than 50 years

The last Freson Bros location in Grande Prairie will soon close its doors for the last time after more than 50 years in the swan city.

Freson Bros has been a staple in Grande Prairie since its opening in 1971 and Chairman Mike Lovsin indicates he is proud of his company’s involvement in the community as an active partner with the city and the surrounding communities.

“After decades of serving Grande Prairie and the area, we have decided to sell the Grande Prairie location,” he says.

Lovsin adds that the decision to sell the Grande Prairie location was “not an easy” one to make, and maintains that his company is “committed” to finding opportunities to remain involved in the city in the future.

“We remain committed to finding innovative opportunities to serve our patrons in Grande Prairie in the future,” he says. “We recognize the contributions of the many extraordinary team members who served this community for more than 5 decades and thank them for their many years of dedicated service.”

When it comes to jobs, it is unclear at this time what will be done with current employees; however, one team member indicates teams are communicating with employees to help them navigate the sale.

According to Lovsin, Buy-Low Foods will replace the Freson Bros in the spring to continue serving the community.
