Great things afoot: 2Day FM warms up for another annual Sock Drive

2Day FM’s annual sock drive goes live on December 30th, and officials at the station are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year than last.

2Day FM General Manager Caralee Parr says she is proud to look back on the success of the drive after three years of continuous growth.

“I always like to see these initiatives grow from where they start and where they wind up,” she says. “Year one we had just over 1,100 pairs donated which was amazing, last year 2,700, so I’d love if we crossed over that 3,000 pair sock donation in 2025.”

All donations are donated to Wapiti House and the Saint Lawrence Centre, and Parr says while donations continue to climb, the need for warm clothes grows as well.

“There’s such a big need in our community for people to have warm clothing while we get through these really harsh winter months, especially this year, it started early and hasn’t gone away,” she says. “I think a lot of us take for granted having warm clothes, a warm house, even a warm bed, and it’s not the solution to the problem but every little bit that we can do helps.”

Last year’s event saw significant support from several local organizations like Value Village, 9-1-1 Industrial Ltd., and New Horizon Co-op, and Parr took a minute to call out several others to show their support during this year’s drive.

“We definitely have some wonderful clients here at the station, so we like to lean into them and put that pressure on and see if they’ll step up and they typically do,” she says. “I’d like to see some corporate challenges, and see them maybe have a little bit of fun with each other.”

When the drive goes live, donations will be accepted at the 2Day FM office, where they are processed and shipped directly to Wapiti House and the Saint Lawrence Centre.
