City of GP credits collaboration between MD, County with securing Wonder Valley deal

Following the announcement of O’Leary Ventures’ intention to build the world’s largest AI Data Centre Industrial Park in the MD of Greenview, the city of Grande Prairie has released a statement regarding how the new development could affect the local economy.

The new project is being called a “regional triumph” by several local leaders, including the Reeve of the MD Tyler Olsen, County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall, and Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton.

All three municipalities have a long history of collaboration when it comes to significant developments like this, and according to the City of Grande Prairie, presenting a “unified front” played a significant role in securing the project, and elevated the region’s value to international investors.

This project is a testament to what our region can achieve when we collaborate,” Mayor Clayton says. “The opportunities that Wonder Valley brings job creation, skills training, and global investment will elevate the quality of life for all our residents.”

“It’s not about one municipality; it’s about a shared future,” she adds.

The hope of the new development is that Wonder Valley will provide thousands of jobs during construction, with sustainable employment opportunities following the project in a variety of sectors.

The city adds that the project will present opportunities for business growth, and garner global attention which in turn could solidify Northwest Alberta as a hub for innovation, and train a new league of the workforce to lead in emerging industries like AI.
