Fatal collision closes Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie

UPDATE #3: Highway 40 has reopened in both directions. RCMP continues to investigate.

UPDATE #2: Alberta 511 says the highway is now open to single-lane alternating traffic.

UPDATE: Grovedale Fire Department says the collision is 5 kilometres north of the Cutbank River. Both lanes of the highway are closed, and RCMP expects traffic to be disrupted for the next several hours.

A fatal collision has closed Highway 40, roughly 60 kilometres south of Grande Prairie.

The closure is expected to last at least a couple of hours as RCMP investigate.
