Celtics to defend provincial football title

For the second year in a row, the St. Joe’s Celtics are heading to the Alberta Bowl. The Celtics won their 30th game in a row Saturday, beating the Lloydminster Barons 53 to 13 in the semis.

The number one ranked school will now head to Edmonton next weekend to play the number 4 Foothills Falcons for the Football Alberta tier II finals. The Falcons have four provincial titles, and lost in the finals in 2013.

Meanwhile, the Sexsmith Sabres’ playoff run ended Saturday with a 21-0 loss to the Ardrossan Bisons in the tier IV semis. The Bisons will play the Willow Creek Cobras in those finals.
