Not guilty plea in Fort St. John manslaughter case

A Fort St. John man accused of manslaughter has plead not guilty to the charge.

29 year old Travis Waite suffered a head injury on May 18th, and succumbed to his injuries in a Vancouver hospital on the 30th. 27 year old Cody Kenneth McDonell was arrested the night of the incident, and his original charge of aggravated assault was upgraded after Waite’s death.

According to the Alaska Highway News, police believe the two men had gotten into an argument, and McDonell punched the victim as a result. A trial date is expected in 2016.
