London Drugs hosting ninth annual Stocking Stuffers for Seniors event

The ninth annual Stocking Stuffers for Seniors event is back at London Drugs, and the Grande Prairie branch is looking to grow on last year’s more than 600 seniors supported during the campaign.

London Drugs Zone Manager Benjamin Pullein says the annual affair is quite important for local seniors, as many are faced with loneliness during the holidays.

“Each community has a lot of seniors that are in different homes and perhaps they don’t have family or friends or loved ones to spend time with during the holidays.”

“The idea is to help people in the community match up with a senior and give them that experience of a gift in the holidays, and let them know they’re not alone, and that there are people in society who care about them,” he adds. “Loneliness is a big concern for many segments of our population, and certainly the senior group as well.”

Pullein says helping out is simple. He says whenever you find yourself in London Drugs, you’ll find a tree towards the front of the store with several tags on it, from there, a customer will shop around as normal, and purchase the gifts at the front counter.

“When you come into any London Drugs store you’ll find a tree towards the front of the store with a tag on it, each one will have a list of gift suggestions for a senior in that area, you’ll grab that tag, make your selections, and when they’re all complete, bring it back to London Drugs, and we’ll ensure it gets to a senior in your area,” he says.

Hot ticket items every year include blankets, mittens, gloves, chocolates, and cookies, which are all available in-store. The last day to purchase gift tags is December 8th, and gifts will be delivered before Christmas to all participants.
