Snowfall warning issued for several communities in Grande Prairie area

A snowfall warning has been issued for much of the Grande Prairie region, with the expectation between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow will fall during the first part of the weekend.

The warning is in effect for the areas of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Valleyview, parts of the MD of Greenview, Yellowhead County, and Woodlands County.

According to Environment Canada, snowfall will begin this afternoon and intensify throughout the evening. The heaviest snow is expected overnight through Saturday morning.

As a result, drivers are advised the rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some locations, and visibility could be suddenly reduced during heavy snowfall.

Despite the warning, officials are suggesting snowfall will ease by Saturday afternoon.
