Increased flight service from GP to Edmonton to be available this summer

The Grande Prairie Airport has announced an exciting expansion of service, with hopes to connect the Peace Country with the rest of the world.

Thanks to WestJet’s increase in service to Edmonton, and an additional flight coming to Grande Prairie, officials at the airport are suggesting residents will now have even more opportunities for travel when the weather gets warm.

According to the airline’s 2025 summer flight schedule, an additional flight between Edmonton and Grande Prairie will be available for travelers from May through October. The new flight will depart from GP at 12:05 p.m., in addition to the current 7:35 p.m. departure.

Grande Prairie Airport CEO Brian Grant suggests the additional service will provide more frequent connections to cities across the country and even south of the border including new connections in Chicago and Salt Lake City. He says the airport is working to establish further direct flights, to continue building on the new found momentum.

“Additional Service to Edmonton International Airport has been a top priority for the Grande Prairie Airport for over five years,” he says. “We continue to market for several direct flights including British Columbia and winter vacation destinations.”

Grant adds that he is “pleased” to see positive results from the continued efforts of his staff and airline partners.
