Celtics and Sabres looking for Peace Bowl title

The St. Joe’s Celtics will be looking for their third Peace Bowl championship in four years this weekend. The undefeated high school football team beat the Grande Prairie Warriors 60-nothing in the semis Saturday and are still considered the top Tier two team in the province.

They’ll be facing the Sexsmith Sabres, who are ranked second in the Mighty Peace Football League and defeated the Peace River Pioneers to advance to the finals. The Sabres beat the Celtics in 2013 to take the title, but their only loss this season was to St. Joe’s.

The game goes Saturday at the Community Knowledge Campus with kickoff at 2 p.m.
