Body found in northwest Grande Prairie identified as Dawson Creek woman

The Grande Prairie RCMP has identified found human remains near the city as belonging to a deceased Dawson Creek resident.

On the afternoon of October 21st, members of the Grande Prairie RCMP were dispatched to reports of human remains in an area northwest of the city. At that time, police determined the remains belonged to an unidentified woman.

Since then, the RCMP has confirmed the deceased to be Megan Butler, a resident of Dawson Creek.

Without going into too much detail, one member of the RCMP confirmed Butler led a “high-risk” lifestyle; however, the investigation is not being treated as a homicide.

As of October 29th, the investigation is still open and police are asking for anyone who may have dash cam footage captured on October 21st, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on 116th Street between 104th Avenue and 132nd Avenue to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the Grande Prairie RCMP at (780)-830-5701, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
