Another $2.4 million has been requested from the city in order to fully fund the new eastbound bridge for 68 Avenue. A budget of $4 million was approved for the project in the 2014 Capital Plan. Since the design for the bridge was drawn up over the summer, the estimated cost of the project has increased.
The city was also recently rejected for a $5.5 million Building Canada Fund Small Communites Grant that they had hoped to use to fund the new bridge. The other part of the project, the twinning of 68 Avenue, is expected to get underway sometime next spring.
The decision to approve the additional $2.4 million will be made at the next regular council meeting.
