UPDATE: Public tips lead to arrest of Sexsmith fatal stabbing suspect in B.C.

UPDATE: Thanks to several tips from the public, RCMP was able to track Wendland down to a home in Chilliwack, B.C. Officers set up surveillance around the building and once the scene was contained, the Emergency Response Team entered the home and arrested the suspect without incident around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday. He’s now in police custody in Chilliwack but a date for his first appearance in Grande Prairie court is not yet confirmed.

The man wanted for a fatal stabbing in Sexsmith has been arrested. Corporal Hal Turnbull confirms 28 year old Jordan Joseph Wendland was taken into custody by a detachment in the lower mainland of B.C. but can’t say where just yet.

Wendland was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for one count of second degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault. He reportedly fled the scene after stabbing four young men at the Alamo Bar in Sexsmith just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning. All four were taken to hospital, where an 18 year old passed away.

He was reportedly not known to the victims. Police say he was recently living in the Grande Prairie/Sexsmith area but was originally from B.C.’s lower mainland.
