Grande Prairie community mailboxes put on hold

Canada Post has temporarily stopped converting neighbourhoods from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes. In a release, the company says it will be working with the new federal government to figure out how to best move forward with the postal system’s challenges.

Grande Prairie was scheduled to be one of the next areas to switch, with postal codes starting in T8V, T8X and T8W set to change in 2016. About 13,000 residents already use community mailboxes, and another 7,300 addresses were set to join them.

Those will be put on hold, along with all conversions planned for November and December 2015 and all of 2016. Everyone impacted will get a letter in the mail to let them know what is happening.
