UPDATE: RCMP Major Crimes has confirmed it is investigating a fatal stabbing at the Sexsmith bar. Four people were injured and taken to hospital shortly after 1 a.m.
One later died in hospital but police don’t have an update on the condition in the others. It’s unclear whether the deceased was the patient taken by STARS Air Ambulance.
Grande Prairie RCMP has secured the scene and is now looking for a suspect. However, this isn’t believed to have been a random act, leading RCMP to say there is no cause for public concern.
At least one man was injured in a stabbing at the Sexsmith Hotel’s Alamo Bar early Sunday morning. STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched just before 1:30 a.m.
The air ambulance took a man in his twenties to the QEII Hospital. He had knife-related injuries and was in “serious, potentially life threatening condition” at the time.
RCMP K Division is expected to release more information shortly.
