Gun, ammunition stolen from locked RCMP cruiser

A Grande Prairie RCMP cruiser was broken into last week, and a gun an ammunition are now missing. The vehicle was parked in the area of 108th Street and 100th Avenue on Friday, and the break-in happened between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Police say an RCMP-issued Smith and Wesson 9 millimetre service pistol, three magazines with ammunition for the gun, and an extendable black police baton were all taken. The firearm was reportedly unloaded, and was in a locked gun box with a trigger lock device.

Anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area, or who knows where the stolen items are, is asked to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.
