A Peace region family has donated a nearly $700,000 plane to a collegeĀ in B.C. The Swanberg family of Grande Prairie and Fort St. John has given Okanagan College in Vernon a British Aerospace Model Jetstream 31 for training purposes, in memory of Sylvan and Dorothy Swanberg.
Sylvan founded Swanberg Air in the Swan City in 2000, offering cargo and passenger services in western Canada until operations stopped after he died in 2011.Ā Loran Swanberg was on hand for the announcement, and says the family is proud to support the next generation of the aviation industry.
They haveĀ previously donated aircraft to Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek, SAIT in Calgary and Red River College in Winnipeg. It’s the largest donation in Okanagan College’s history.
