Angie Crerar honoured with Seniors Service Award

Grande Prairie’s Angie Crerar has won a 2015 Minister’s Seniors Service Award. Crerar is a strong advocate for seniors, and has spent 35 years volunteering to better their lives.

She helped open the Elders Caring Shelter in 2003 through her work with the Métis Local 1990, which has 18 long and short-term beds for homeless Aboriginal people. She also works on provincial and national initiatives with the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre.

Crerar was one of eight award recipients chosen from 81 nominees recognized at a special ceremony at Government House in Edmonton Tuesday night. Last year she was recognized locally with a park named after her at 93A Street and 70A Avenue.
