Crosswalks considered by city

A review of three marked crosswalks in Grande Prairie that had been cause for concern for some city residents will be see some improvements.

Two crosswalks on 100 Street that are used to access Bear Creek trails from the South Patterson neighborhood were reviewed, though only the crossing at Prairie Road was found to be busy enough to be warranted. A crosswalk at 72 Avenue that was only being used by roughly 8 pedestrians an hour was not found busy enough, but will remain. Both are to be repainted to improve visibility.

A third crosswalk near Holy Cross Catholic School in Crystal Heights was not found busy enough, but the crossing on 90 Street at 110 Avenue will remain for safety reasons.

Studies for all three crosswalks were done during the month of July.
