Province to rebuild Kananaskis golf course

Some potentially good news for Pomeroy Lodging: the Alberta government is going ahead with rebuilding the Kananaskis Country Golf Course. Pomeroy recently purchased the nearby Delta Lodge, with plans to renovate it into a four star resort.

The golf course was seriously damaged by the 2013 flooding and the province then committed to rebuilding it. However, construction was stopped earlier this year while an independent review of contracts was done.

That report found that it is in taxpayers’ best interest to have the work finished as it would cost too much to walk away. The net cost to Albertans is expected to be either $3.8 or $8.8 million, depending on whether it gets more flood mitigation money.

The revamped Delta Lodge is set to reopen in June of next year, while the course itself could be back in operation by the summer of 2017.
