RCMP searching for suspect following high speed chase

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who led police on a chase through the city last weekend. On Saturday around 11 pm RCMP say they attempted to stop a vehicle and take 34 year old Curtis Augustus into custody on a firearms complaint, but the suspect fled after stopping briefly in a downtown parking lot.

Police chased him to the south end of the city before calling off their pursuit. He was reportedly travelling at speeds of more than 200 kilometres an hour.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Augustus for possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, flight from police, dangerous driving, and resisting arrest. He is described as black, 6’5″, 220 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

He is believed to be in possession of a firearm and RCMP say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may have spotted Augustus is asked to contact RCMP of Crime Stoppers.
