Motorcyclist injured in collision with moose

A 47 year old man is in hospital after a collision on Highway 2 involving a motorcycle and a moose Thursday morning. STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene at the top of Mercer Hill, between Clairmont and Sexsmith, shortly after 7 am.

The Sexsmith Fire Department and EMS were also on scene.

Southbound traffic on the highway was stopped in order to allow the STARS helicopter to touch down on the road and the man was taken to the QEII hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic is moving normally again on Highway 2.
