RCMP chase pickup after crash with cruiser

RCMP in Whitecourt is looking to find the people responsible for hitting a police vehicle and driving the wrong way down Highway 43 last Friday night. Around 9 p.m. on September 18th, officers were chasing a GMC Sierra 1500d after it hit the marked cruiser head on at the intersection with 42nd Avenue.

The truck drove dangerously through town, but the chase was stopped after RCMP tried to deflate its tires for the safety of the public. The vehicle was found abandoned in the River Valley Mobile Estates complex, and a police dog tracked the suspects for about five kilometres before it lost their scent.

Anyone who could identify the driver or anyone else in the truck is asked to contact RCMP or Crimestoppers.
