UPDATE: RCMP looking for armed man near Fox Creek

UPDATE #3: RCMP Air Services has joined the search but the last sighting of the white hatchback was around 1 p.m. on Highway 947 south of Fox Creek. The search continues to find the man and ensure the public’s safety.

UPDATE #2: Just before noon Thursday, RCMP responded to a crash between a truck and a horse trailer that was stopped at a stop sign on Highway 43. No one was injured, but witnesses saw the truck driver flee into the bushes carrying what looked like a rifle, but came back out a few minutes later and got into another vehicle. It’s described as a newer white hatchback car with a black oval or circular decal on the hatch. It was last seen on Highway 947 south of Fox Creek.

UPDATE: Police have added that the man is Caucasian, roughly 5’11”, and was also wearing a white bandana over his face. He was reportedly last seen in a white SUV headed northbound on Highway 43 south of Fox Creek. Officers are establishing a wide perimeter in order to catch him. Please give them room to work, and call 9-1-1 if you see this man, but do not stop or approach him.

Fox Creek RCMP are asking drivers on Highway 43 to be wary of picking up a hitchhiker in the area of Two Creeks this afternoon.

Police say there was a two vehicle collision near Two Creeks earlier today, and one male driver wearing blue jeans, a camouflage jacket, and carrying a hunting rifle ran into the bush.

If you are travelling in the area and see a man matching that description you are asked to call 911 with their location immediately and not to stop or approach the person.
