UPDATE #2: RCMP have laid charges against the man who has been in police custody since yesterday.

22 year old Derek Saretsky of Blairmore has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette and her father Terry Blanchette. He is facing an additional charge of indignity to a body.

RCMP are expected to provide an update on the investigation and the charges this morning.

UPDATE: RCMP has confirmed the body of two year old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was found in a rural location near Blairmore. Officers were searching the area based on information reached through their investigation.

Superintendent Toni Hamori says their goal is now to complete the investigations into both her and her father’s death. Police are no longer looking for the white van identified in the Amber Alert.

The male suspect remains in custody for questioning on Terry Blanchette’s homicide. Charges are pending and he will be identified once charges.

RCMP victims services has confirmed human remains have been found and the Amber Alert for two year old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette abducted from Blairmore early Monday morning has been cancelled. The identity of the remains has not yet been confirmed

Earlier today, a 22 year old man from the town in Crowsnest Pass was taken into custody in connection with the homicide of her father, 27 year old Terry Blanchette, who was found dead in his home. His name has not been released.

It’s believed Hailey was taken from the house around 3:30 a.m. on September 14th but her father’s body wasn’t discovered until 11:15 a.m. An Amber Alert was issued three hours later with information on a suspect vehicle. A white van with a flag attached was seen speeding away.

An update from police is expected at 10 p.m. tonight.
