The art of a local sculptor that was put on display just in time for last week’s Tour of Alberta stop in Grande Prairie won’t be leaving its spot anytime soon. The piece, called Wind Blown, is the first large-scale public art that has been done by local sculptor Grant Berg, who is also the General Manager of 104.7 2Day FM.
Berg says he has always wanted to to create public sculpture, and says being able to display his work during the Tour of Alberta was a dream come true. Wind Blown was inspired by the wind battered trees that are so commonplace in the landscape of the Peace region.
Berg was able to fund the project thanks to the city covering 20 per cent of the cost through the Art Development Grant. The sculpture will remain on display in its location between 100 and 99 Avenues just west of 102 Street for the next two years.
