Officers were in the right place at the right time to witness a shooting in Grande Prairie early Friday morning. They were on patrol in a parking lot in the west side of the city around 12:15 a.m. when they saw two vehicles meet up.
When one was backing out of a spot, a single gunshot was heard and both vehicles drove away from the scene. RCMP was able to follow one of the vehicles to an apartment building, and the four people inside were arrested. The driver of the other vehicle was found soon after.
Charges have been laid against two of the people involved. A 22 year old Burns Lake, B.C. woman is facing an assault charge, along with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police. She has been released on bail.
The alleged shooter, a 19 year old man from Grande Prairie, is facing several firearms charges, along with possession and drug trafficking offences. He is still in custody waiting for a bail hearing.
