The Peace Wapiti Public School Division received an $8,000 donation from this year’s Iceberg Hockey Tournament.
PWPSD officials describe feeling “extremely grateful” to the tournament and its organizers for their donation to the PWPSD’s mental health resources.
The Iceberg Tournament was founded in 2017 and aims to raise funds for children’s mental health. According to the organization’s website, all tournament proceeds will provide direct funding for mental health assessments in schools.
As of May 2024, the Iceberg Hockey Tournament has raised more than $50,000 for children’s mental health initiatives.
This year’s tournament, held in April, saw four days of hockey and included 13 teams of players aged 13 and 14 from the Grande Prairie area participating in the competition.
